ABOUT

ABOUT

The film NEVER SEEN YOU SHINE SO BRIGHT began as a story told at Shoot Em’ Up!, a Los Angeles-based, storytelling show produced by Gary Buchler and Monte LaMonte. Shoot Em' Up! explores the evolution of a story to a script to then a film. It began with a night of storytelling featuring six storytellers. One of those storytellers was Glenn Jeffers who shared a true story about his triumph/success in high school theater. His story was the genesis of this short film.
All the stories from that fateful night, including Glenn's, were randomly given to screenwriters. These fearless writers had a month to create a screenplay inspired by their assigned story. Writer and comedian Jessica Lee Williamson was assigned Glenn's story.  A month later, actors performed the screenplays radio play style and then the screenplays were randomly given to filmmakers, charged with making a film inspired by the script in one month's time. Jessica's screenplay, NEVER SEEN YOU SHINE SO BRIGHT, was  assigned to director and writer Anna Christopher.

Anna assembled a cast and crew, consisting of new partners, like producer Chelsea Lutz, and longtime collaborators like director of photography, Dominique Martinez. They filmed for one day and went directly into the edit room. A month after being given the screenplay, storytellers, screenwriters, filmmakers, friends, and fans came together at Shoot 'Em Up for one last night to screen the shorts inspired by the screenplays (inspired by the stories). The full evolution from story told on stage to film shown on screen was complete.
